Improving Your ACA Marketing
During the three months of open enrollment from November 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016, ACA (Obamacare) enrollment totaled 12.7 million, according to the CMS. More than 9.6 million people selected a plan using HealthCare.gov. In addition, about 3.1 million consumers enrolled in state-operated exchanges.
And while many carriers are discontinuing some of their plans, many other carriers have aggressive goals for expanding their ACA member rolls. So, let's talk about some proven ways to improve your Affordable Care Act marketing this year.
1 - Target Consumers Who Are Turning 26
Consumers who are turning 26 years can no longer enjoy coverage under their parents' health insurance plans. Furthermore, these consumers often represent the so-called "young invincibles" who are generally very healthy.
You can target these consumers by identifying lists of consumers who are turning 26 and are living with their parents. Your list doesn't have to limit itself to people living with their parents, but it's a good place to start.
2 - Use ACA Purchase Propensity Lists
If you have sufficient data and predictive modeling expertise, you can score your own list of consumers who are most likely to purchase insurance via the ACA. Alternatively, we offer high-response lists that are scored using advanced propensity models. Our ACA propensity model uses results from over one million consumers.
3 - Target New Movers to Your State
Like those turning 26, new movers to your state will qualify for special enrollment. So, targeting new movers, and perhaps combining it with ACA propensity models, can yield effective campaigns. We offer new mover lists that are highly effective for health insurance marketing.
4 - Clean Your Marketing Data
While this strategy is not unique to Affordable Care Act marketing, it is timeless in its ability to improve your marketing results. Insist on using the most advanced data hygiene routines. Remove duplicates and suppress your current members from your prospecting files. Take this part of your Obamacare marketing seriously or your response rates will suffer.
